For years my Mom would come with me in the mornings to shoot. We’d wander and explore the various backroads of Washington, from mountain corridors and coastlines dotted with forested islands. We’d just go, coffees in hand and nothing but art in our pursuit. On this morning, we wandered out onto an island neither of us had been on before. We found a secluded beach and using a new lens that had arrived the night before I photographed this quiet scene. Not too long after this I watched her take her last breath and now no one comes with me.
