Like guards to an otherworld the wall of Sierra rock stands impenetrable to the west. Its interior mystery beckons for adventure, for exploration. But here, in the shadow of this mystery is all silence. It’s eerie looking at the burning sun through this veil. Up there you know it’s howling wind, I can see the clouds moving. But here, on the dry leftovers of this western spine the mystery of that silence is expressed in my willful act of photography, pointing my camera I want you to feel it too, this duality.
