There are no horizons in a forest, no beginning and no end. The dimensionality is circular, as if by hiking forward you’ll eventually end up right where you began, but that is false. You will walk endlessly and end up nowhere. Another word for the feeling is disorientation. Wilderness is a great reminder of human limitations, especially for humans who have grown up in the soft belly of civilization.

If you do walk off into the brush and end up afraid, close your eyes and breath. It has been many generations since you were here last but your soul will remember. There is nothing scary here, it is the womb from which you came. Sit with that peace for a moment and feel the life swarming around you.
