I have one frame left and am out of time. My young daughter has already skipped down the trail having shot her last polaroid of a selection of leaves. I can’t just walk away with one frame left on my roll. I walk a bit deeper into the underbrush and find a small group of ferns. This will be a dark exposure, like the previous (Leaf) image. I don’t photograph isolated closeup images in black and white much. Maybe I should do more, I like the intimacy, the dark and tonal emotion that’s pulled out of a simple fern. The oldest of living plants.
