Fog. It’s an inevitable part of living in San Francisco. We lived on the northern edge of the Golden Gate Park, a mile from the beach, and every year from June until September the fog would roll in. I didn’t mind it. I grew up in Seattle and it reminded me of that. Fog is a wonderful environmental tool, like low angle light or storm clouds. It changes a scene into something else. This parkland tree, under blue sky light, would not be interesting to photograph, but add dense fog and it becomes something of a mystery. By purposely preventing any dark tones I hold back a solid base and keep it ethereal.
Like the unseen hounds on a foggy moor, a little mystery is a good thing.
