Dark is the pensive tone. Where reflective and serious thoughts are born. This mood, not one of apprehensive melancholy, but of creative warmth, is easy to conjure in an old growth redwood forest. The dense foliage and arching canopy create a world within a world. The outside simply doesn’t exist. This old world summons visions of packs of hunting Allosaurus or American Cave Lions or even better, entire hidden faery worlds in the undergrowth. I love the poetry if not the fantasy of this. It’s nice to feel hidden from the human world, where time ceases to matter, where reality ceases to matter and I can just exist in creative ecstasy.
