Under a fading moon mountain walls are revealed, mere hints of a place. Stars arc on their journey around Polaris and falling waters roar unseen down distant cliffs. This is the realm of night seekers, searching what is denied them under the sun.
I usually like to photograph color at night. The BW film I use is quite slow, 80-100 ISO, and so the exposures need a lot of time. I had photographed a few panoramic image this same night and wanted to get one on film. The fading moon gave just enough light spill onto the granite faces without overexposure or losing the star trails. It’s a subtle scene with just a hint of horizon and climbers lights high up on El Capitain.
